XLPE REPAIR TAPE
XLPE Repair Tape refers to a specialized insulation or sealing tape used for repairing XLPE (Cross-Linked Polyethylene) insulated cables. XLPE is widely used in medium-voltage and high-voltage power cables because of its excellent thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties.
When XLPE cable insulation is damaged (due to cuts, abrasion, or surface cracks), using standard PVC or rubber tape isn’t sufficient. Instead, XLPE-compatible repair tapes or heat-shrink solutions are used to restore the integrity of the insulation.
Key Properties:
- High dielectric strength (restores electrical insulation).
- Resistance to UV, ozone, and weather.
- Good adhesion to XLPE insulation.
- Water-resistant and void-free insulation after application.
Applications:
- Emergency or permanent repair of damaged XLPE cable sheaths/insulation.
- Jointing and splicing of XLPE cables.
- Protection against moisture ingress in outdoor/underground installations.
